Fort Lauderdale, Florida – July 19, 2008 – In an event deemed by all as a “really, really fun time”, Sidelines Sports Bar, hosted its first annual Sidelines Ultra-Premium Vodka Drink Contest on Thursday, July 17, 2008. The drink contest was the first tier in launching Sidelines’ new vodka product to the gay & lesbian market. Sidelines’ seasoned bartenders took part in the contest by creating and naming their very own concoction using the new Sidelines Vodka. The winning cocktail was made by one of the club’s most-admired mixologists – Tanner - and her soon-to-be famous drink was christened as “The Sidelines Smash”.

The “taste testers” or judges for the drink contest were some of South Florida’s well-regarded and renowned journalists and media personnel. They included Mark Haines, Creative Director, Mark’s List; Joseph Green, Sales and Marketing Manager, Hotspots! Magazine; Dale Madison, Pinkies Up, 411 Magazine, Bruce Bogan, the newly appointed Editor of Buzz Magazine; and Robert Poole, Sales Executive, Southern Wine & Spirits, the distributor of the new vodka. Each judge was given a sample of the entries and asked to rate the drink on a scale from 1 to 10 (10 signifying the best). At the end of the tasting, the totals were counted by Sidelines’ owners, Laurie Whittaker and Marty Kildea and by a very slim margin the drink with the highest score was “The Sidelines Smash”.
