WHERE SPORTS COME FIRST

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – May 15, 2006 – With very little advertising, Sidelines Sports Bar opened their doors last Friday, May 12, to an enthusiastic welcome from the gay community along the “Drive”. Although their ads in the most of the gay publications declared Sidelines would be “Opening Soon”, the owners were able to acquire all the necessary legal documentation and decided to open their doors sooner rather than later. This “soft opening” allows Sidelines Sport Bar to establish itself as a viable contender and provide the gay community another choice in the varied mix of entertainment venues.

The mix of patrons this past weekend was eclectic – they included players from one of Ft. Lauderdale’s gay softball league organizations, curiosity seekers, sports fans, as well as a large number of veteran bar regulars – all able to get a peek at Wilton Manors’ newest alternative addition. “We had such a good feeling about opening and wanted to get a sense of how we were going to be received, explains Marty, co-owner. “It meant so much that some of the community’s key business owners came in to congratulate us and wish us well”, beams Laurie, Sidelines Sports Bar’s other owner.

Sidelines Sports Bar seems to be on its way to victory just by the look of its turnout during their first “soft” weekend. Be on the lookout for some of its upcoming events, such as their official “Grand Opening” on Saturday, June 3rd and the upcoming Q Ball Pool League Playoffs to be held at Sidelines on Tuesday, June 13, 2006.
