Fort Lauderdale, Florida – January 14, 2008 – Two Sidelines Sports Bar-sponsored gay softball teams are headed to Orlando, Florida to compete in the 9th Annual Orlando Meltdown Charity Softball Tournament to be held on January 18 – 20, 2008. The Sidelines Cyclones and the Paladins, both “C” Division teams, will represent Sidelines for the second year in a row.

The Central Florida Softball League has hosted the tournament since its launch in 2000 and awards the first, second, and third place winners in each division with checks payable to the charity of their choice. Several non-profit organizations from around the U.S. have benefited from this event. This year, there are a total of sixty (60) registered teams coming to Orlando from major cities across the country, such as Chicago, IL, Tampa, FL, Minneapolis, MN, San Jose, CA, Atlanta, GA, Nashville, TN and Houston, TX, to name a few.

The owners and the entire staff of Sidelines wish all fourteen (14) Ft. Lauderdale-based teams the best of luck and enthusiastic competition. “The most important thing about competing in such a tournament is the likelihood of our teams making new friends, enjoying the camaraderie of competition all while making a difference to worthy organizations”, commented Laurie Whittaker, co-owner of Sidelines.
