Our Neighborhood

Small-town Ambiance with a Great Location
Ideally located within minutes of the beach and downtown Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors is the “place to be” in South Florida. Approximately two square miles in area, Wilton Manors is referred to as the “Island City” because its boundaries primarily follow the North and South Forks of the Middle River.

The Arts and Entertainment District provides a pedestrian-oriented environment where residents and visitors can shop, dine, and experience the best of what Wilton Manors has to offer.

The riverfront parks provide a host of leisure and recreational opportunities including a canoe trail, mangrove preserve, and two nature trails, much of which is located on the Middle River.

Diversity is the strength of Wilton Manors. People from many different ethnic backgrounds can be seen around town.

A big factor in the city's transformation is an influx of gay residents. By some estimates, gays currently make up a third to 40 percent of the population. The city has gained attention for being only the second nationally to have an openly gay majority on the city council.
